Here's a great breakfast idea (actually a few) for on the run nutrition:
Crumble half of a protein bar (about 200-230 calories) into a fat free plain yogurt.
Or blend 8 ounces of chocolate soy milk with some pitted cherries and 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon of nut butter.
Need to buy breakfast on the run? The Starbucks oatmeal offering is also a great on-the-go meal (though I recommend you only use half the mix ins that come with the hot cereal).

Love eating ethnic but worried about the calorie heavy ingredients?
For Italian always
take a tomato based sauce for your dishes and eat 1/3 of the pasta
dishes - they typically serve 3. You can also ask for sauce on the
side and control the portion serving as well.
For Thai dishes go for the vegetable and chicken choices. Realize that...

Most store bought trail mixes have too much granola, yogurt-covered raisins, fried banana chips, chocolate pieces or processed nuts. This is a case of a healthy food gone ......fat and bad!!

I know the trend is to watch fat, but your greens give up their nutrients just a bit better with a dash of healthy fat added in. Just adding a splash of olive oil to vinegar and spices is a great way to watch calories (remember that we're supposed to use...

Plain yogurt can already contain (naturally) close to 16 grams of sugar, so when you buy a flavored yogurt expect to add, sometimes substantially to the sugar content of the product. Add the sweetness yourself with cut up fruit, or all-fruit spread.
Remember that if a cookie is...

Actually, since coffee has caffeine, which makes it a stimulant, it can tend to "speed things" through the gastro-intestinal tract. So you might miss out on absorbing all of the nutrients from a capsule(s) you take with this beverage. A better plan is to wait about 15 minutes after your breakfast coffee, and take your pills with a glass of...

What catagories of oatmeal give the best health punch?
Clearly steel-cut oatmeal is quite healthy and full of fiber, but
you can also turn to instant oatmeal, as long as it is not sweetened.
Remember that evaporated skim milk, cinnamon, berries or bananas can be
your "sweet boost."

You've seen white-whole wheat bread at the supermarket but do you understand, nutritionally, what it is?
These breads use a "white" unrefined grain instead of the
traditional brown. The white has a slightly sweeter taste. Still
check these bread labels to make sure "whole grain" is the first ingredient. If you see multi-grain, cracked wheat or seven grain - it's...

Popcorn actually contains fiber AND anti-oxidants known as polyphenols, which help to remove disease and cancer-causing "free radicals" from our bodies. Whole grain foods are comparable to other polyphenol-containing products like chocolate, tea, coffee and wine. Just buyer beware - we are talking about unadulterated "whole grains" without added sugars and fats and processed flour.

Watch those bags of veggie chips. It is so tempting to believe that chips made from vegetables are healthier, but very often they have little to do with vegetable ingredients and lots to do with potato or corn flour. If vegetables are the first ingredient that's great, but beware the reality that many are still fried. Do some regular chip...
